My husband got my a mother child pedent, and a ring with my daughters birth stone in it. He didn't have to, I never said anything to him. He really just wanted to tell me he loved me, and thank you. When my son was born he got me a ring with his birthstone. I have no problem with him doing that. I thought it was very sweet. Though if he did not do that I would have never thought anything of it.
I think its wrong to expect a gift, but I think it is VERY sweet for a husband to get you something.
