The SNL skit did cross the line. At first it was funny, but when the incest emplications were very obvious it wasn't so funny anymore. Sure Palin seems like a nutcase at times (though I rather have McCain in office instead of Obama), but she doesn't really deserve something that harsh. There's reasoning behind the "I can see Russia from my house" jokes becasuse she stated herself you can see Russia from Alaska (which is true. There is an Alaskan Island that on a clear day you can see the coast of Russia), but implying that her husband is going to have incest with the kids she never implied anything to forward that.
And on another note for those saying that Palin doesn't have much experience. Obama doesn't have much experiance either. In a chart that I found online that compared the two canidates about their views on issues such as healthcare, abortion, taxes, etc. One of the topics was the diffrence of their experiance. McCain has years Obama only has about a year and half.
