Wrong. First of all, much too broad. This sounds like a crap study to me.
In my group at school I have at least six friends who are incredibly cerebral and are at the same time "popular". I know they are all destined to do great things. Willpower.

I think that popularity varies and it's stupid to treat all popularity the same.
Bytheway, none of my friends have ever had someone carry their books for them..

Could you post a link to the study? Sounds really flawed to me.
