Calar had flung himself through the door just as the window beside Lucy shattered. Throwing his hands out, strange words fell from his tongue in a whisper, sending the glass in strange directions around the girl. Then, as gently as he could, he tackled her to the floor, covering her with himself to guard her from the last of the glass.
Just in time, it seemed because a section of the ceiling fell in above them.
