He clearly wasn't joking or being sarcastic, I can handle that, and metaphors normally aren't bad... But I find it very unneeded for him to say that and it's offensive to the kid he said it to as well, even though he may not have a nose ring. In fact it's offensive to any guys with nose piercings, no matter which gender they're interested in.
