Default Does anyone have suggestions for what to do when...

...When you feel like you have a million books surrounding you that need to be read? Like you need to finish this one book to get to another, even if that means skimming through the whole thing, and getting frustrated when it takes too long?
I really need help with this, if any of you could, please. =/

What do you have a big project due and didn't get started yet? Just slog through it. Don't try to speed read, you'll miss a lot of good points. Take it one book at a time and just keep reading. And stay off meez. That might help too.

Good luck!

Agreed.
The best thing you can do is stay off the computer. It'll eat all your time away (trust me...).

No, it's not a project; I'm a big reader and have a lot of books on my mind right now. Generally, I'm not a "speed reader" so I can't just whiz through them all.

And thanks, to you and ohdoctordie. I have been trying to stay off the computer but (obviously) not succeeding very well. =/

Ugh, I know the feeling. I love books (I'm almost afraid that if I do get hired at Borders [interview tomorrow, wish me luck!!] I'll never take home a paycheck, just books), and I constantly feel like I've gotta read them or else!

I agree with amaz42 and ohdoctordie: One at a time and limit the computer time. My piece of advice would be to just keep on keeping on with the book you're on now. Some books take more concentration than others; I'm a fairly fast reader and it still takes me a while to finish either new or really involved books.

Oh, then don't worry yourself about it. Take each book and enjoy it. If you can make a plan stick to it. Sometimes it helps if you break the book in chunks. Like if you want to finish one book every three days. Divide the pages by 3 and don't let yourself get up until you finish the days section. The you have all evening to enjoy whatever else you want. And you got some reading done. Works for me most of the time.

Maybe this isn't the best advice but if I'm getting bored with a book I will often just put it down and go on to another one that I really want to read. Once I'm done that one or run into a particularly boring bit, I'll switch back to the first book. I've almost always got at least two books on the go at any time.

I'll keep one by my bed and one in my school bag so I've always got something when I feel like a read.

Since the only moment that matters is now, the book you are currently reading should be the only one that matters.

But that's a whole other discussion.

I can never read just one book. I always have about 5 going so I can read what I want depending on my mood. One non-fiction and a variety of fiction on the ready. And usually an audio book too so I can read while I do other stuff.
