I find it hypocritical of you to ask that I not speak for others while you speak for the whole gay community.

The truth is it offensive to many and those who do not know this are uninformed.

Im gay and am not offended by it, people need to stop taking things so personally. The whole point of the thread is pointing out the fact that gay didn't mean homosexual first , that meaning was ADDED.

But obviously they don't mean homosexually.
People say things like... "That's straight" OR "After we get the new remote, I'll be straight."

Words change. First gay meant happy. And it still does. But now it more regularly means homosexual. Now that's happening again where gay is changing from homosexual to mean something bad.
My Grandma didn't complain when gay changed from happy to homosexual and I don't see why people should be complaining if the word changes again.

I think that if you're not using it to say "happy", which most people usually don't, then it's rude to use as an insult. If you really think about it, saying something is "gay" doesn't even make sense. All you're saying pretty much is that the subject likes the same sex as whatever it is.. And that makes so sense... There's really no point in saying it, so I don't get why everyone does.

It is not like that at all because that is not what they are saying. The word does not just mean happy or homosexual. Why can people not understand this?
