Never thought about it this way. But I guess if thongs are your size, not 2 sizes smaller, they would not be that tight.

Actually, its the material that thongs are made out of that cause infection. Once you get irritated by them its best to stick with cotton underwear until it goes away. It doesn't happen to everyone though.

Well, I mean just wearing any underwear at all to bed, is not that good for that area, even if it isnt that tight...lmao but I wouldnt really want to sleep nude, especially while I live with my parents...

When I wear thongs (which I do very rarely), I usually change them for something else for the night.

No, I agree that this material may cause problems (Goodness, I hate synthetic undies!), but I've seen plenty cotton or silk thongs.
