if i werent to lazy to quote, i would quote the lady who posted that mouth full on the first page. By god this is fascinating here i am assuming that most if not all of man kindis doomed to stew in the mud of what we know now and never really fund what is required to push forth the future, and then i read about the LHC my god man this thing could bend time once they start putting it in gear
For every step mankind makes backwards there's atleast two that go forwards, and this is one of them. It just makes me want to break out singing the Discovery Channel theme. "I love the whole, It's such a brilliant place."
Such explorations as this can be considered like those of the Nasa Lunar Missions or even greater.

This is all very Baconian: knowledge is power. And I have to admit, I believe in the progression of science, but there is still room to worry about technology in the hands of humans. The more power we have the more that power can be used for good or for evil.

But when it comes to the Hadron collider, I'm inclined to think that so far, it's a good thing. The exploration of dark matter, string theory, and gravity may not seem immediately useful, but it is an investigation into the depths of the nature of things. And once things can be understood, they can be manipulated. So who knows how these theories may prove to help, or hinder, humankind? We shall have to wait and see.

But what benefit will it be?Sure we will know more about the universe but will it help make more money? Stop North Korea?
The machine itself is a particle accelerator, meaning it uses fusion, like the sun. The way that the sun has so much energy is through fusion. Fusion gives off more energy than fission. So if things go right the LHC might also open doors to fusion as a source of energy.
Hmmm I like this

This is a very interesting experiment. This will probably come up in my Physics class next semester.

They say that if they can't find the Higgs Boson, then they'll have to re-write Science books.

I dont realy get why they feel the urge to do the experiment, the money spent on it could be spent on something better, i.e poverty or the fact the banks are going into bankrupcy, we are here now, why do we need to know how the rock westand on was made? Also who gave them permission to do this, because (even thought it is highly unlikely) our livs (and planet) could be at risk shouldnt we have all had a say in it?!

There are a lot of things that are wasting to much money that could be used towards other things but that doesn't stop people from doing them. Personally, I don't mind money going to things like this. Human's curiosity to figure things out will always fuel things like this.

I dont see why we shouldnt. Hell, who is to say our universe wasnt caused by the same kind of experiment a gazillion years ago?
