Default Human-animals?

Quote:
Scientists have begun blurring the line between human and animal by producing chimeras—a hybrid creature that's part human, part animal.

Chinese scientists at the Shanghai Second Medical University in 2003 successfully fused human cells with rabbit eggs. The embryos were reportedly the first human-animal chimeras successfully created. They were allowed to develop for several days in a laboratory dish before the scientists destroyed the embryos to harvest their stem cells.

In Minnesota last year researchers at the Mayo Clinic created pigs with human blood flowing through their bodies.

And at Stanford University in California an experiment might be done later this year to create mice with human brains.

Scientists feel that, the more humanlike the animal, the better research model it makes for testing drugs or possibly growing "spare parts," such as livers, to transplant into humans.

Watching how human cells mature and interact in a living creature may also lead to the discoveries of new medical treatments.
Just a few questions-
Do you think it is a good idea to create human-animals only to take their livers? Would it be considered murder?
Do you believe this is animal cruelty?

WHAT!!?? They are actucally doing this! Isn't there some kind of ethics code that should be preventing these scientist from doing this??? Maybe I'm just totally lost and freakin clueless, but am I the only one who thinks this, what they are doing isn't right? I know don't know quite why I don't, but this bothers me. I want to hear what you other people have to say about this before I say anything futher.

If they are doing this, what ELSE are they doing???
Hope I don't sound like a crazt paranoid person, haha.

I'm not entirely sure what to think on it yet. At the moment, I think it's kind of cool in a creepy, sci-fi sort of way. It's really quite the curious situation, and I'm interested in seeing how it progresses.

No, I don't think its wrong. But than again I'm a big advocate for animal testing.

Ok this is kinda creepy...I mean...
I don't think we need hybrids if we are gonna be cloning.
With cloning I think we can copy a vital organ.
I don't think this is necessary, but at least we know it's possible.
