In class a few days ago we were given a photocopy of an artical titled "Win in highschool, but lose in life". It was about a study about how students in high school who were popular usually end up with unintresting dead-end jobs and don't succeed as much in life as students who were not popular. In the artical it stated that some scientists found this to be so because popular kids always have things handed to them. People to carry their books for them, admire them, want to be them. So when they get into the real world where no one cares about popularity they were unprepared and soft unlike the unpopular kids who grew a tough defensive outer attitude which helps them succeed in life. What do you think about this? Is it right, wrong? Why?

I'm sure that's how it is for some kids, but not all of them. Some learn really quick that the real world is very different than high school. But for others it takes awhile.

Wrong. First of all, much too broad. This sounds like a crap study to me. In my group at school I have at least six friends who are incredibly cerebral and are at the same time "popular". I know they are all destined to do great things. Willpower. I think that popularity varies and it's stupid to treat all popularity the same. Bytheway, none of my friends have ever had someone carry their books for them.. Could you post a link to the study? Sounds really flawed to me.

And the "Fab 5"'s the worst example you could give, in my opinion. Haha They support the idea that "popular" kids in highschool get this strange mentality of reality. They believe that the world revolves around them, and so as soon as their bubble is popped.... Well. Screwed. However I think that it varies too much, popularity. The statement and study's just too broad. That study would be SO easy to make biased.
