If you're a mother, I'm sure you can think of something. You know the environment and kid better than I do. Like I said, you can't really solve technical stuff over a forum. My opinion on the OP, if you're gonna have a gun, just keep it locked up and hidden.

People use them for the wrong reasons. They're no longer used for defence anymore. So no. I don't think guns should be kept in houses. | |||||||

I have two guns and one child. I put my guns out of his reach and try to answer questions he has about them. If kids aren't as curious or know or learn basic gun safety I think it is fine. Almost anything can be dangerous or possibly deadly if used wrong or for the wrong reasons, to me guns are a tools. You wouldn't let your four year old play with a gun any more than you would let them play with a chain saw. As children get older you can introduce guns just like other possible dangerous items and teach them possible bad things that can happen with said items.

Well see the problem is if you are going to need a gun to defend your self and you put it in the safe it is to hard to get it out fast enough.

| Banned | The gun laws here are much stricter. Possession of a firearm without a hunting/occupational liscence is an automatic prison term. There was a story a year ago it must be now where this little girl, she must have been 3 or something, picked up her dad's gun, which he had been cleaning, whilst he went inside to use the toilet and shot her little brother in the head. He later died in hospital. He shouldn't have even had the gun, let alone have it near children. It's not a matter of protecting your family. Families can be protected with a simple average kitchen meat knife. All hunting guns should really be locked away when not in use. And there is never any excuse for letting children near loaded guns. (I admit, I know a few boys that go hunting with their dads. But they've been tested for gun safety to get the hunting liscences they own, so I have no problem with that.) Whether there is adult supervision or not. | |||||||
