A physical punishment is positive reinforcement. negative reinforcement simply means taking something away. you are giving a beating, thus giving ((albeit unpleasant and unnecessary)) positive reinforcement.

I'd tell her thats it no good to say cuss words.....don't be to hard o n here though if she doesn't say anything that bad but if she says like the f word or something like that then she should be in big trouble

Well.. Just don't teach your kids such language. You can, of course, punish them if they use them anyway, as long as you explain why it's wrong, and as long as you remember to reward good behavior.

A few days ago my sister (she studies to become a teacher) heard a boy in her class say some things that are just totally innapropiate for a nine-year-old... So yeah, I think parents should really pay more attention to this.
