*tries not to laugh* bha, what the hell. self harm isn't cool, kids I've been there, done that, got blood all down the t-shirt (I should write song names for emo bands) and it leaves you just as empty a few hours later as you were before you picked up the knife. So don't brag about it, people don't care. I know from experience. And attention seeking for it makes people even less impressed. x.S.x

In my personal opinions, schools are WAY too lenient with children. I've seen kids cuss, diss, even hit their teachers. What are their punishments? Detention or a suspension, whoo. Schools in Asia spank kids and hit them in order to teach obedience (though they aren't uncouth like the teens in America anyway).. I think it helps, alot.

| Forum Junior | This is such a funny topic... I know I occasionally curse (maybe more then occasionally) but out of my kids my 2 yrae old seems to be the one who has picked up on it. Some times he says something and I ignore it but most of the time I just tell him it's not a nice word to use. I have to admit I'm alos one of those people who kind of thinks it's funny when little kids (1-3 yrs) let words slip, because ther so little but they always use them in just the right way. | |||||||

Just tell the kid that he can swear in the house all he wants, unless someone else has guests, but outside of the house he'd better have a really good reason, that you'll be dissapointed(i hate someone saying they're disappointed in me, doesn't help if it's someone i don't respect though).

I try to explain things to my son.. Let him know that they aren't appropriate for his age(I've always done this, as I wasn't always careful what I said around him at any age). And let him know that some words shouldn't be said around certain people. He tried to get slick and spell them on occasion.. Now he asks if its ok if he says a certain word.. Or a variation of some words. :)

I'll say it again, vocabulary, give the kids something else to use as invective, maybe start using something innocuous in a manner that invective is used, like 'curses' fiddlesticks' 'zut', their friends will be happy to learn some new curses too.
