If mythical/mystical creatures existed at one time, they obviously don't exist in the public eye, but that doesn't mean that they still don't exist. maybe the loch has an underground river tunnel that nessy can get through, and it's only their breeding/spawning ground.

Nessie possibly is.
But who knows. People claim to see alot of stuff that looks like the Mythical Creature they're looking for.
Most of the time they just make it up and say that they did see what ever it was.
