I was wondering which is better Guitar Hero or Rock band...Because I have Guitar Hero world tour & Guitar hero Metallica edition,but now rock band is coming out with Rockband Beatles edition and Guitar hero is coming out with guitar hero 5 & DJ Hero!

But no matter what I ask People still say.....Rockband!

Whats your opinion!

My feelings toward those games:

"When I meet kids I always say to them, Playing guitar is not a f***ing video game... You'll never master it." (Noel Gallagher of Oasis)

I know so many idiots who spend hours trying to "master" the controllers, and some of them think it's even giving them the skills to play the corresponding instruments. How can you take pride in that?! Go learn real music, you crazy kids!

(I guess the same goes for any video game, but these just rub me the wroooong way)

Hate both of them.

Mega downer. But hey, it's there for people who don't have talent, have a couple hundred dollars to waste, and are bored/have people coming over to their house a lot. The fact that that you are super-prideful of your ability to play Raining Blood by Slayer with 5 buttons is definitely something you should brag about.

I mean, everyone has a talent, some less great than other, but pride is a bad thing in my book, lest you do something truly mindblowing in your book, like an Olympic medal. A standard electric has six strings and 20-22 frets. That's a maximum of 212 fret combinations - roughly 42 times as much fret combinations as a plastic guitar.

I play the larynx and the guitar, and Rock Band and Guitar Hero are fairly easy compared to serious bandwork, (Waking The Demon is hell to cover) , but it's perfect for those who've always wanted to be rockstars but never could.

These games obviously do not really teach you how to play the guitar and other instruments. I guess, in a way, Guitar Hero and Rock Band are almost "better" to play then the real thing for people. It's more excitig with the graphics and it is supposedly "fun". I do play the guitar in real life and perfer it instead of these games. I dont hate them though. They are unique and the versions of them are good. =D

I disagree. These games might not teach you how to play an instrument per se, but do they help you develop practical skills like internal rhythm, hand eye coordination, dexterity, ear training, etc. If you're already familiar with a real instrument, developing these skills can help you become a better musician. Of course playing Guitar Hero or Rock Band isn't a real substitute for sitting down with your actual instrument and practicing, but hey it still beats World of Warcraft.

Just don't expect to be able to actually play Conquer All on a real drum set just because you can FC it on expert.
