I'm willing to bet that you don't actually need the same platform, like, what is it, development suite? Presentation software? Wifi with peculiar protocols? If it's something you access through the browser, you probably can take that off your list of reasons.

I have a MacBook similar to that one and you're fine with 2g of RAM. You don't play all the latest games or anything, and Macs manage ram a lot better than PCs. So, if you have 6 programs open at once, it tends not to slow down a whole lot.

Many PC users go into buying a mac thinking they're going to have to get a bunch of stuff to pile on top of it... You don't. The basic MacBook is great and makes your apartment look better, to boot.

It's actually a VPN issue. Also a security protocol issue. My IT dude assures me that I do need the same Op Sys as we use in office.

How do you know I don't play the latest games... Huh? Huh?

(You're totally right, I don't.)

Thanks fer the advice Andros - you know that I totes respect your tech opinions... Though I must say that it was shocking when you & that other guy we're friends with jumped ship to Mac a couple of years ago. I never thought I'd see the day.

Ah, from the same it staff that says 'only the browsers we list will work on meez' and are proved wrong by browsers that can modify their browser id? i'm willing to bet he's just being lazy, not investigating if it'd actually work with anything else. i'd suggest that you tell one of them to figure out how to make it work, do it with much waving of backside and close touching if you have to, being locked into a single platform is a certain way to get lost when everyone moves on, do you want to be lost?

I understand what you're saying Skaar - but, honestly I'm a point n' click user & I just need my laptop to function with whatever tools Meez gives me to work with. It's probably more power than I need, anyhow.

Not to mention that Macs run Unix so there's not a huge point in putting Linux on there, the only difference is that I want to additionally purchase XP (aka, Office for Mac) so that I have the applications that I use at work.

Thx for your suggestion though - I feel like I should send you a Penguin toy or something for your trouble - as I just got a bunch of that schwag from some con I was at.

Macs are fine, but someone bringing up linux on the first page, i knew it wasn't what was needed, but leapt to say that it indeed may be an option. then reading that it wouldn't work is like being tied down and tickled. of course, once you do get mac, you'll be using unix, and could probably find a linux version of the exact same tools.

Um, no, it's one more thing i'd have to decide whether or not to toss out when i move, the thought is sweet though.

DARN! That's exactly why I'm trying to get rid of the stuffed Penguin.

(Well - the not needing the clutter of promo toys in my work space, I guess...)

Maybe a plastic sword and penguin statue, the ms windows logo on a shield leaning on it.
