| So, I'm about to make the jump to Mac (I know, so hard to believe that a g33k like me isn't already there) and I wanted to get some advice on this topic: I have been told that the Macbook Air isn't a good choice for me due to the amount of applications that I have to use on a daily basis. There has been intimation that I would have to purchase an external device to support such apps as are essential to have so that I can do my job remotely from time to time... So here is the device I'm thinking of: Mac Book basic I most likely will purchase in store and add Office XP to the lappie... I guess what I wanted to ask was the following:

Well nice jump Lucy. I like to hear that your not going to get the Air because of your personal reasons. But I would also like to tell you that the Air is very sleek and easy to loose. Not only that but my friend had one and was holding it like a notebook and it slipped right out from his arm. I have an iMac and it's great for business and home use. But if you were to get a desktop, you wouldn't have to go through the hassle of spending extra money for external memory devices. So I wanted to bring this up so maybe it can be a consideration. Not only that, but an iMac would have to stay in one place, unless you want to go through unhooking it and re hooking it every time you need to bring it to work. So that's the one disadvantage to desktops. 4G isn't necessary for me, but that's because my job doesn't use that many extra programs, and I only work from home two days out the week. But for you it might. To me it varies for different people so I'll let you decide if you need 4G. If I was in your position I would consider buying an Adapter for business meetings. This way you can connect to a projector. As for the Iphone, stay unconnected and enjoy the peace and quiet, but this is my opinion. You can easily download all your music to Itunes. Now that you have my input maybe you can go from here.

| Hey, thanks Young! That's great advice... I do need a lappie instead of a desktop, as I often work remotely due to travel and have to lug my computer with me pretty much everywhere. ![]() | |||||||

I got my iMac just 1 month ago, and it didn't take long for it to get here. On yeah, that's another question: Are you ordering it offline or are you going to go to an Apple store? Your welcome,

It's awesome that you're switching to Mac Lucy. The basic Macbook is very versatile, and it's VERY portable, I bring mine pretty much everywhere I go and it's lightweight. Macbooks are very fun and easy to use, I made the switch last year, and I am SO much happier. The basic Macbook is a good choice, and the reason you shouldn't get the Macbook Air is because it's for specialized users, and is meant to be more of a secondary computer than a main one. It costs a lot more and doesn't do much, although it is considerably lighter, but I don't think it's what you need. So good luck with your new computer, hope you have fun. ^^
