Okay, so me and my brother are best friends you see? So he was helping me because I really hate WindowsVista! He went online and found a download for Windows XP arkEdition. We installed it. Everything was stellar... Until we noticed I have no sound! ![]() We tried lotsa stuff. The problem is that we even went though the whole CONTROL PANEL->ADD OR REMOVE PROGRAMS and then we tried to install the audio... But, we kinda failed at it. ![]() My laptop is an HP Pavilion-Special Edition. It has those fancy blue lights near the screen to open Quickplay, DVD, rewind, pause, fast forward, stop, mute sound, and the sound scroll for my volume to go up or down. Even when I touch the sound buttons NOTHING at all happens. It's as if it has been completely deactivated. My friend tried to help me and he said: Go to Control Panel Go to Add/Remove Programs Go to Windows Setup tab Double click on the \"Communications\" sub panel Mark a check mark in each of the Communications sub-components. (for me the changes I made were to the ISDN configuration wizard and Virtual Private Networking Click OK Click OK again Reboot Retry. It didn't turn out so well. I have no idea what to do and my bro said that he may need to buy a program that will help us find the missing audio driver. I keep asking him when he can get it... But he just asks why I want it so badly. Please, PLEASE, if you know anything that may possibly help... Leave a messege here on how or PM me (PMing me may work better, though)! Thanks for everything! Bye!

Isn't there a direct access to your volume control on your control board called Sounds, Speach, and Audio Devices ? Go there, if it's there (I don't use Vista), that may solve your problem. Tamm-me | |||||||

Ah idk... I downloaded RegCure and supposedly it will help me find all the problems on my computer and help fix it... I hope to God anyway. I haven't had sound in over 2 weeks! And I have friends on Skype that I only have contact through Skype so... Yeahh haha. Thanks for the help though ;DDD Maybe this will work.

You need to install sound card drivers. Go to your device and drivers control panel thing, see what sound card you have- it will most likely have a question mark or big red x on it to say theres an error. As long as you get the name of the sound card you had before, you can google it and download the needed drivers. I had the same problem on my PC ages ago when I reinstalled windows, so it should fix it.
