Alert Icon If you're a computer whiz, then you've been called upon to help me. Please?

I honestly don't think any of you can help me with the problem that I'm having now, but I'm getting pretty desperate. Anyway, here it goes!

So, I just recently downloaded BearShare 7, and I accidentally did something I wasn't supposed to... At the time of downloading, I had, literally, just woken up, so I wasn't all there. After it had fully installed, a little box popped up on my computer screen telling me that a program was trying to gain access to the internet and needed my permission to do so. I looked at the file and I recognized it as BearShare, so you'd think I would've clicked 'Allow Access', right? Ha... Ha... Ha- no. I wasn't in my right mind at the time, so I, like a complete MORON, clicked 'block access' and then I tried to sign in and conduct a search to start downloading music. Well... Least to say, I was quite surprised when it wouldn't search, or when a search would turn up empty for a band like... Vampire Weekend, and it wouldn't let me sign in, either. All I got when I tried to sign in was a 'Can not connect.' I sat infront of my computer for a good 10 minutes, trying to figure out what was going on, and then it suddenly hit me; it was because I blocked the internet access. Needless to say, I felt like the biggest idiot in the world. So, I went to BearShare's website to try to find something that would help me, but all I could find were things for Windows XP, which I don't use. I couldn't find anything for Vista, but I still looked at what they had to say, just in case I could find anything useful. Unfortunately, I didn't really know what it was talking about. All I could get out of it was to go to your >>Network Sharing Center, then go to >>Manage Networks, and change the settings from there and allow BearShare access to the internet. Well, I thought maybe I could do that, so I went to my >>Control Panel, clicked >>Network Sharing Center, then >>Manage Networks, and from there, I didn't have a single clue as to what anything listed there was. I asked one of my friends if he knew of anything I could do, and he said the only thing he knew of was, A) Reformat Windows, or B) Get something else to download music and videos with. I absolutely refuse to reformat Windows, and BearShare is the only thing I've ever known of that's actually good. So now, I'm out of options.

So, do you guys know of anything at all that could possibly help me?

Also, I barely know anything about the computer, so think of it as trying to walk a 12 year old through the process. T.T It's pathetic, right? But seriously, any help that you have to offer is very much appreciated. Please and thank you!

P.S. Sorry, about the Great Wall of Text.

Try uninstalling BearShare and then re-installing it, and make sure you dont block the internet access.

You could;

Go into your programs and see if all of BareShare is gone

or,

Contact BareShare by phone to straighten the matter out.

I would un-download it, or whatever you call it.
Then I would try to re-download it.
Just, don't download it when you just woke up or this may happen again.
Okay?

I recommend that u go to the control panel, open the windows firewall and on the exceptions check the little box for bearshare...
i think that'll do the trick... Otherwise say something back...

What you're going to have to do is give it access again, gawd i haven't done it in so long

if you have vista, simply go to control panel, there you will see security

click on allow a program through firewall. I assume you're account is the administrators account.

from there you should see a list of programs. In order for you to enable access you have to check the boxes.

hope that helps
