Lucy Icon FAQ About Moderators

What does the blue name mean?

If someone has a blue name, it means that either they are a moderator, or they are an administrator.

What is a moderator?

Moderators help enforce the Meez Nation Code of Conduct, by reporting anyone they witness breaking the code.

Though their primary responsibilitiy is reporting, they also have some special abilities. They can 'zap' other people in the same room with a lightning bolt, for example. This is usually done if the person asks for it, or if they need to get that person's attention to warn them about the consequences of breaking the code.

They are also able to 'kick' people (eject them from the room they are in). They use this ability to immediately remove people who are breaking the code, so they can file an abuse report while things are calm.

Moderators sometimes help out new Meez users, too, by answering their questions.

Moderators do not work for Meez, they are just Meezers, like yourself, who have volunteered to help keep Meez safe and fun.

What is an administrator?

Administrators are primarily responsible for processing abuse reports. This involves reading the reports sent in (by both normal Meezers and moderators), looking at the logs of what happened, and giving out punishments as appropriate. Punishments can range from an informal warning all the way up to a permanent ban from Meez. The punishment depends on how badly the person broke the code of conduct. Minor violations get minor punishments, and more major violations get more major punishments.

Administrators also moderate in Meez Nation, so you may sometimes see them wandering around, exploring the various rooms. While they are doing this, they may kick or zap people who break the code, and file reports, just like moderators do.

Some administrators also have special duties, like running contests.

What about Lucymeez, Roscoemeez, Aquameez, etc?

They are administrators. Unlike most administrators, though, they do not read abuse reports, give out bans, or perform the other usual administrator or moderator duties.

Instead, they have special duties:
  • Lucymeez is the friendly face who welcomes new people to Meez, and keeps everyone informed about important Newz, via the Newz forum, Newsletter, and announcements on the site. She is also known to roam around Meez Nation, making sure everyone is having fun.
  • Roscoemeez is responsible for helping Meezers who have technical problems. He also has a team of special Roscoe Elves who help him fix problems on the site. He tends to spend his time answering email, rather than in Meez Nation. To contact him, go here.
  • Aquameez is responsible for identifying ways to make Meez better. He reviews the suggestions forum, and works with Roscoe's elves to make the site better.

How do I become a moderator?

See here for more information.

How do I become an administrator?

Administrators are not volunteers - they actually work for Meez in real life.
So, the only way to become an administrator is to work for Meez in real life.
Currently, we are not looking for new administrators.

Someone says they are a moderator or administrator, but they don't have a blue name. Should I believe them?

No. All moderators and administrators have blue names in Meez Nation.
If someone claims to be one, but their name is not blue, they are lying and you should report them at once!
