Online | Hey there, Meezers! This thread is devoted to frequently asked questions concerning infractions and bans. I am continually editing/adding to this list, as new issues come up. What is an infraction and why did I receive one? An infraction is a notification from the administration team, informing you that you have broken one of our Meez Rules. If the infraction you received does not result in a ban, then you can think of it as a warning, alerting you that such behavior WILL result in a ban in the future, so you should definitely stop engaging in it. In order to read over the rules that you must follow in order to NOT receive more infractions, please click HERE. Each infraction has a description -- "Inappropriate Language," "Blocking an object in a room," etc., to inform you what it is you were doing that got you banned. What if I didn't do it? It is VERY rare that our administrators issue an infraction that is not valid. We receive quotes with each abuse report, citing exactly what the user in question said. We base our decisions on fact, on what actually happened, not just on another user's claim. What if it's not my fault because someone else was using my account? Sharing accounts on Meez is absolutely illegal (see Rules & Guidelines, #4). We need to make sure the owner of a particular account is held accountable for ALL actions on that account. If you choose to break that rule and share your account, and then the person you shared with gets you in trouble, it will be YOU who is punished by receiving an infraction or a ban. So don't do it! It's not worth the risk. What if it's not my fault because I was hacked? Although having your account hacked is very unfortunate, we do also see it as a result of not carefully protecting your account. Giving your password out to other users, leaving your account signed in when you leave your computer in a place where other people can access it, or using a password that is extremely obvious and easy to guess, all of these things will probably result in someone else hacking your account. And once this happens, it is very likely that you will receive infractions and possibly be banned. Remember: YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR YOUR OWN ACCOUNT. So, do whatever you can to protect it! Getting hacked is very easy to avoid. Just make sure to have a difficult, complicated password that ONLY YOU know, and make sure to SIGN OUT of your account each time you're done using Meez. Note that to deal with a hacked account, hopefully before anything bad results in an infraction/ban, please click this link: Recovering a Stolen Account. What if I got banned for being underage, but I was only kidding? There is no way for us to know whether you were kidding when you said you were underage, or whether you're lying now to try to get your account back. So, we have no choice but to be cautious and leave your account banned. To keep this from happening to you, we recommend that you never, ever lie about your age. If you're not comfortable telling someone how old you are, just tell them you don't disclose that kind of information. I spent a bunch of money on Meez and now I'm banned. I want my money back! If your account is permanently banned, some recent purchases made via credit card may be eligible for refund. In this situation, the refund should be issued automatically within 5 business days. I received an infraction. Can I still apply to be a moderator? Unfortunately, no. Once you receive a valid infraction, it means you can no longer apply to be a moderator. This is why it's SO important to follow the rules! Becoming a moderator is an extremely competitive process, so we only accept those users who have no infractions. There is a chance that if you improve 100% and receive NO more infractions, that you may be able to apply once your infraction expires. But definitely not until then. Okay, since this account is banned, can I just create another account? Absolutely NOT. When your account is banned, temporarily or permanently, it means YOU cannot use Meez. Creating another account will result in an infraction on that account, for Ban Evasion, and all your accounts will then be permanently banned. So, if you are banned temporarily, DO NOT use Meez during that time. Then, when you are welcomed back to Meez, make sure to follow the rules! And if you are permanently banned, that means your offense was very severe, and you are unfortunately no longer welcome on the site.
