Yes that's correct. I had people speak Bohemian (which is like Slovakian or czech now)

Grüß dich=Hello to a child in Bavaria (South Germany)

Grüß Gott=Hello to an adult in Bavaria

Guten Tag=Good Day in German

Guten Morgen=Good Morning in German

Guten Abend=Good evening in German

In Italy Hello is "Ciao"

I speak french, so when I greet someone I either say, Bonjour, Allô, Salut.

But not really, because I never use those words.

I usually say, whats up, wuddup, hey, yo.
