Freedom. I believe that it is the single greatest invention of all time. You may say 'Freedom' is not an invention, and I sort of agree, but the fact is that most people on this earth, both now and in the past, did not have such a thing.
Most people live in subjugation, where they are told what to do and how to live, and they are forced to live in a way that is acceptable to those who are in power. Now you may say that our system is no different, but all you have to do is visit some places where people are not free, and you quickly realize we have it much better. There is no comparison. In China, if you protest against the President, they kill you with a tank. Remember Tienamen Square? Hundereds of people were murdered because they believed in free speech.
Freedom does not mean the right to take things from other people. And Freedom does not mean that the government has to be the way you want it to be. We have 300 million people in America, and not all of them want the same thing, so in every election someone is going to win, and someone is going to loose, and some people are going to be dissapointed. But that's okay, we have a new election every 4 years. Kennedy, Johnson, Nixon, Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush. That's 4 Republicans and 4 Democrats, seems pretty fair to me.
Freedom means the right to hold your own opinions even if you don't agree with other people. It also means that other people have the right not to agree with you. If you disagree with how something is being done, then you should say so. But other people have the right to say that you are wrong too. We have the right to have all kinds of different opinions, and to make up our own minds. And if we disagree, that doesn't mean that someone is a "Nazi" of a "Facist". It just means we disagree, and that's okay.
The Nazis were different. They forced everyone to hold one point of view. If you disagreed with them, then you were ignorant and backwards and dangerous. The Nazis were National Socialists (Nat. Soci.) who believed that the Government should control every aspect of individual life, for the good of the whole. They banned anything they thought was divisive, and strove for unity of opinion above all things. They turned their people into robots by demaning that they all agree.
Nobody in America is a Nazi. We just hold different opinions. And that's okay. That's Freedom.
