| First thing is first, lose WMM and download the trial of Sony vegas 9.0 here Sony Creative Software - Download: Vegas Pro If you already own it or have the trail then your awesome Now your going to have to get rid of another program and thats hypercam. Your now going to install SnagIt which gives you a opportunity to record any region on your screen or the whole screen just like hypercam, but doesn't have the annoying watermark in trial (i don't think, never tried really). Snag It alows you to make the output file render using a variety of codecs from Divx (basically HD) to little 176x. Download Snagit Trial SnagIt Anywho... Step 1: Select the region profile and then click the arrow next to the big red circle on the bottom to drop down the menu. In the menu should be video capture. Click it and a film reel should now be in the circle. ![]() Step 2: Now it's time to remedy those ugly pixels and horrble gfx that plague today's meez videos. Skip this step if your computer's specifications aren't above this. In order to find this, right click "My Computer" and click on properties. If your PC is slower skip to step 3 ![]() If it says Core 2 Duo or Core anything with it's ghz lower than my 3.0 dont worry about it. Now if your pc matches or is faster continue on in snagit and click "Capture" on the top bar, drop down to output and then click propperties. Click file too while your at it shown in the picture below. ![]() Then once in properties uncheck "Auto Configure", then click "Video Setup. Then select the DivX codec. Once selected, click "Configure". A new window should pop-up and look like this in the end. ![]() Now click the settings button on the very bottom of the window. Once there select HD 1080p HD source. Dont get all giddy now just because you think your meez video will be in Blu-ray. It won't... Step 3 :Now hit ok and apply all the settings until you get back to the window where you unchecked "Auto Configure". Below it says "Frames per second. Change it from 5 to 30 and hit apply. Step 4 :Now your ready to record your meez in meez maker or meez nation. If you want to record audio, leave the microphone next to the big red button highlighted. If not click it and it will be unhighlighted. Once ready to record, click the button and a yellow box will appear. Ignore the picture inside of it as thats the cursor zoomed in. Click and hold down the left mouse button to draw a wider longer box or capture zone. Now a window will pop-up showing the properties of the capture such as the recording frame rate and such and such. Just hit start. Now it's recording, your meez is jumping up and down for the camera. Step 5: when your done recording hit printscreen and it will stop. Its best to record separate scenes then to keep hitting stop, change animations, outfits or whatever and then resume again so everything is on one long avi piece, so hit stop and a new snag it program will open. You can play it back to examine for lag or whatever but meantime just click the floppy disk on the taskbar so you can save it. I recommend saving it as the name of the animation your doing or whatever the cuase may be for future ref in Vegas ![]() repeat 6 and 5 for more scenes If that seemed like alot to you, then even measly hobby movie creation isnt for you but it will get REALLY fun in about 5 minutes as we enter Sony vegas 9.0! WeeeeNow you can exit snagit at this point and enter Sony Vegas. Simply check trail version and fill out random info and choose register online, and bang your in. Sony Vegas Step 1: Now it's time to get your meez recordings into Vegas. Click on file and then, import. Move the mouse over to "media" and click it. Now search for the files your recording using snagit. The default folder should be "My documents" itself. ![]() To save time you can hold down "ctrl" and click each file to add them all at once. If you've noticed, the files move into vegas alot faster than WMM. Step 2: Now if it isnt already there, the box to the farthest left should have all your recorded files and songs you want in the video. If not look underneath the box and you'll see tabs. Scroll over and click on "Project Media". Thats basically all the video files and songs. From there you can drag the media to the timeline for editing and etc. Step:3 Now your ready for editing. Drag your files from Project Media to the timeline (which is the long rectangle going across the bottom). Now you can press play and preview it (just like in the snagit editor). Now click on the tab that says "Video FX" thats 2 tabs over from 'Project media" Step 4: All the stuff on the left side in the Video FX tab are effect catagories. Click one and effects under that catagory will appear with a preview window showing what each one does. Just like the media files you draged to the timeline, do the same to the effects. Once done that a window will appear like this. Mine window may be a different effect but basically it allows you to tweak the effect properties. ![]() Step 6: Simply adding a Bunch of effects is one thing. But adding a effect and making it animate with your video is a whole new level. Once your effect is added and your still no the effect properties window that popped up after you added it, look down below all the options and you'll see another timeline. This timeline controls the effect's length, when it pops up and etc. ![]() The hexagon is the effect itself and should be at the very beginning. To make this very short, if you want your effect to 'Jump out" on a drum beat, adjust the effect on it's timeline and move the little arrow above the timeline. When you drag that arrow, the clip in the preview window will move. Now if the effect window is in the way, move it over so you can see the song on the media timeline. Now you can use the effect timeline's arrow to move the media timeline's arrow as well to the desired spot. Once you found the area you want to make the effect pop up, move the timeline arrow to a second or so before the point you want the effect to happen and mess with the effect properties so that the clip looks like you havent got a effect on it in the first place. Basically it should look unedited. Now move the arrow over one space and mess with the effect properties again to your liking. By this time you should have several more hexgons on your effect timeline. remeber you can use the preview window to see if everything is clicking and in the right place. If not adjust. Now that your effect has jumped, it needs to GTFO the clip so it can come back on the next beat. Same thing you did to get the effect in you do to get the effect out. Move the effect timeline's arrow over one space and mess with the effect properties back to the clip's unedited looking state. You should have at least 3 hexgons bunched up really close. 1 to take the effect out until your desired point, 1 for the effect itself, and the last one to take it back out. If you want the effect to slowly risethrough the clip, move the effect timeline's arrow down the timeline and raise the effect's properties. If you want the effect to slowly fade, do the same thing as above only raise the effect's properties at the beginning and then move down the timeline and make a hexgon with the effect in a lower properties state. Now you've edited your first clip! Explore though Sony Vegas to find more stuff and use your imagination. Step 7: Now it's time to save your first Sony Vegas edited video. Click File and then click "render as". A window should pop up showing you choices of what to save it as and the template. For the file type, choose WMV 11 and for template choose HD 720-24p. If you skipped step 2 back in the snag it tut, choose a template below HD 720-24p. If you PC was faster than mine, feel free to choose a template above 720-24p.
