Okay when you download GIMP brushes, you can't change the color of them. Does this mean you would like have to make a new transparency layer, use the brushes in the new layer, right click>colors>colorize? Or is there a simpler way ???

Some certain brush makers will not alow you to change the colors. Others will. It depends on the creator, if ALL of your brushes are like this seek more professional help.
