Alright, so I'm going to teach you how to do the "weave" effect on GIMP.
First open up GIMP with the image you want to weave.





Then right click the picture and click "Filters" then "Artistic" and finally "Weave"



A pop up should appear on the size of the weaving. You can experiment in your second try. For now just like OK.




And you're picture should be weaved. Final result.
