I did find out something about referring a friend though. You can still get 200 coinz for inviting people to join Meez but you have to do it through HERE.

the referring friends part of the post was updated/corrected by Aqua himself so seriously i don't know what to think about the link you provided...i'm a bit confused now...

I saw the post also where Aqua said they removed referring friends, I figured they just changed how it was done when I saw that the option to invite your friends is still there under community so now I don't know what to think either... Why would they still have that then if you can no longer refer a friend to get coinz?

You can still refer your friends, you just don't get Coinz from doing so.
