Happy Icon Literature Discussion Thread!

Hiya Meezers!

About time I updated this thread right!? Hehe.

As some of you may already know I have always been a huge fan of Writer's Corner. Everyone is so talented it's hard for me not to come in and read the wonderful stories!

Anyways, as before this thread will be used to talk about your favorite writers, books, or to discuss what you are currently reading.

Recently I have uncovered my collection of Stephen King books and have begun to read those. Though he can get a bit stuck in his details he is an amazing writer.

I could go on and on, but I would love to hear from you all! What is your favorite book? What are you currently reading?

Fill me in!

No, I didn't know you were a big fan in writers corner.
You not talking about it alot made me think of that, but oh, well.

Anyway- I just finished reading the Sookie Stackhouse novels.
Really, it wasn't that enticing.
All Sooki does it have sex with a thousand million vampires and some action inbetween.

Im reading Catching Fire by suzanne collins, which i already declare to be the best book in the universe...(the hunger games comes first though...)
funny thing too, my friend said the same thing.. Though i gave it to her and she decalered that just by holding it in her hands (not even reading the cover or knowing the tittle or anything)
i can go on and on about how much i love this book....
though i'm not going to act like an. .... Whats the word..... Overly obsessed fan... Ahem (fanpire\twilight)

another series i like alot is the harry potter series by JK Rowling. (seven being my favorite and six my lest favorite...)

twilight is okkkay..... Im not crazy about it in a "chosing teams" kind of way. Edward is a stalker and Jacob is erm... Pushy... (sorry fans, it's true)

ohoh i just remebered the Alex Rider series that nobody seems to know about xD i loved that too.

i cant think of anything else worthy of mentioning becides Uglies and.....
ohhhh how could i forget maximum ride!!!

//gasps and goes to hide in emo corner.

Yeah, I didn't know that either. You never see any comments letting anyone know that Ginger is a fan of WC. Anyway, I have been reading The Love Knot by Elizabeth Chadwick. Her books take place in the middle ages. She includes a lot of different twist and turns.

I am loving the historical fiction novel called Mary Blood Mary by Carolyn Meyer and it's continuation, Doomed Queen Anne. There are two others, but I have yet to read them.

The Royal Diaries are a wonderful read, especially the ones by Kristiana Gregory. Queen Catherine's diary of Russian, Cleopatra's diary, Mary Queen of Scots, Marie Antoinette, and many other famous historical women.

I also love Anne of Green Gables. Such a whimsical girl with silly adventures that she takes so seriously. A Little Princess is also like that, and a wonderfuly classic.

And though Memoirs of a Geisha by Arthur Golden isn't quite accurate, it's a stunning portrayel of the secret life of a geisha.

Gail Carson Levine has some wonderfully silly but well written books in a collection called The Princess Tales, where she takes classic stories and puts a strange but cool spin on them like: The Princess Test, For Biddle's Sake, The Fairy's Return, The Fairy's Mistake, and Princess Sonora and the Long Sleep.

Ella Enchanted, by Gail Carson Levine also, is a wonderful book as opposed to the crappy, totally random movie they made off of it. AWFUL movie.

The Midwife's Apprentice was a good read, by Karen Cushman. It's about the Middle Ages, and a poor young girl who sleeps in....poop...to keep warm is given a job for a little bit of food as a reward. Despite the boring description, it's very well told.

Oh, I read the Vampire Diaries and was surprised they are making it in to a show!
But the character, Elena, is so wrong.
In the book Elena has blonde hair and blue eyes, the girl in the show has brunette hair and awful brown eyes.
Like wth?
